Halima Sufi

Halima is a fully qualified and accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) psychotherapist with extensive experience working in the NHS and private healthcare settings, treating clients from across a wide range of difficulties and backgrounds suffering from depression and the anxiety disorders, including generalised anxiety disorder, social phobia, health anxiety, panic, adjustment disorder, obsessional compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder, (PTSD), panic disorder, agoraphobia including specific phobias such as emetophobia, trichotillomania & skin picking disorder.  By taking an eclectic approach to her work she is better able to meet the needs of the client and tailor treatment in more bespoke ways. Halima takes a transdiagnostic approach to problems to locate the underlying mechanisms in symptomology. For example, the consideration of issues of poor self-esteem arising in depression as a route in exploring and alleviating symptoms.

Halima holds a meaningful passion to help clients build, grow and transform, and chose her work in the field of mental health as a way of genuinely sitting alongside the client in their psychological journey. By reaching a shared understanding of the client’s difficulties and goals, Halima’s approach is collaboratively working together with the client for better treatment efficacy, the goal of which to empower the client in their psychological journey to stages of recovery.  Taking this approach involves developing bespoke and meaningful tools and techniques to improve daily functioning, with an ultimate goal of transforming the therapeutic gains made during treatment into lifetime tools for the client.
