Leonie O'Loughlin
Leonie is a fully qualified and accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) psychotherapist with extensive experience.
Leonie offers face to face and online therapy for the full range of mental health disorders. She recognises that choosing therapy to work through problems, pain or distress can be a difficult decision and offers a warm and collaborative approach.
She has a particular interest and expertise in working with trauma (PTSD), OCD, Phobia and other anxiety based disorders and enjoys working with people who have complex presentations and may have additional difficulties related to emotional management, addictions, ASD or gender issues. Whilst using evidence based approaches underpinned by research and science, she is passionate about working uniquely with each individual and all they bring to therapy.
Leonie is someone who has, in the past, experienced, and fully recovered from her own mental health issues. She brings this additional perspective to her work and is aware of the potential strength and personal growth that can result from therapy. She knows the importance of being understood, listened to, and validated and believes that the bedrock of good therapy will be a relationship based on trust, honesty and respect.
Leonie has worked in a variety of settings over her career including for the NHS IAPT service, Secondary Care Mental Health Services, addiction services and with adult survivors of sexual abuse.
