Arlene Alexander-Price
I’ve practised as an accredited cognitive behavioural psychotherapist since 2009 and as a mental health nurse for the past 20 years.
The both professions combined enable me to work with mild to severe mental health conditions. These include low self esteem, depressive episodes, recurrent depression, social, health and generalised anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), body focussed repetitive disorders such as skin picking and hair pulling. My training also equip me to work with individuals with depression and anxiety in the context of chronic pain, diabetes mellitus and respiratory conditions such as severe asthma, COPD and emphysema .
My approach to talking therapy is collaborative and inquisitive. I value the time spent in conceptualising individuals lived experiences. Together, we tackle cycles of unhelpful thinking and responses which keep symptoms of anxiety and low mood going.
I have a very special interest in working with individuals/parents from Black African Caribbean communities and with individuals of a mixed heritage.
I’m able to also offer CBT supervision and currently working towards my BABCP Supervision Accreditation.
