My name is Michelle and thank you for taking your time to read my profile. I am a mum, rugby player and cold -water sea swimmer but whom nevertheless is warm hearted.
Professionally along with my own private practice, I work for the NHS working for clinical psychology in supporting various departments. I have worked with both staff and patients in paediatrics and oncology services offering psychological interventions to individuals, families and group therapy and training. I currently work within the intensive care rehabilitation service in where I work with patients who have been critically ill and who are experiencing difficulties. Common difficulties included hallucinations/flashbacks/sleep disorder/phobias and depression and anxiety. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, I have been supporting staff more through this challenging time with both individually, and groupwork.
I can offer knowledge, therapeutic skills/interventions and experience that working in a diverse range of working environments has given to me. This includes working for CAMHS (child and adolescent mental health service), the probation service in a prison for two years working with offenders as a life coach and life skills facilitator. In addition, working as safeguarding lead, counselling/pastoral lead and lecturer in criminology and working therapeutically with children who have emotional and behavioural difficulties/ special educational needs, this has given me a deep understanding of how mental health, physical health and environment can interweave and help identify and assess unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour.
I am fully qualified, registered and accredited with the BABCP (British Association of Behavioural Cognitive Psychotherapists) and registered as a counsellor with the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy). I hold a PGDip in both CBT and education and training following on my BSc Psychology and advanced diploma in counselling. I trained as a Hi intensity CBT therapist (IAPT) at Exeter University and am trained in EMDR (eye movement desensitisation reprocessing) therapy. I am also trained in ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy) and as an integrative counsellor working with both young people and adults.
If you would like to discuss an individualised therapeutic plan to suit your needs I would be happy to receive your call to discuss this further with you.
